Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a very critical vitamin that effects a healthy immune system.

The sun is the primary source of vitamin D and it gives you all the vitamin D you need, but today, more than ever, people today spend too much time indoors. Or they live in climates where the sun doesn’t shine often.

Food doesn’t give you enough vitamin D, so people are recommended to take supplements every day. Many studies suggest that adequate levels of vitamin D can also help prevent depression. And if people want to be on an effective diet, positive mindset is a must. In addition, it helps keep your heart, teeth, and bones healthy.

Researchers have noticed lower-than-normal levels of serum vitamin D in obese people. Dr. Jeffrey Roizen, of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said, “Low circulating levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D are common in obesity and have been attributed to sequestration of vitamin D in fat cells, and obesity reduces the ability of the liver to convert vitamin D into 25-hydroxyvitamin D.”

In 2009, research was done that suggests that if you increase your levels of Vitamin D when starting a low-calorie diet, you’ll lose more weight, including in that stubborn belly fat. And a study which occurred in 2011 showed that overweight and obese adults taking calcium and vitamin D supplements lost significantly more belly fat than people not taking any supplements.

When your body doesn’t have enough Vitamin D, your body’s levels of parathyroid hormone (or PTH) increase, which can lead to your cells converting sugars into fat instead of energy.

Vitamin D helps your body absorb and use calcium, which has its own weight-loss benefits. It also plays an important part in helping your body determine whether to burn fat or store it?

To get the daily recommended dose of Vitamin D, spend a few minutes outside in the sun or take a supplement. I recommend that you consider taking the brand Nature’s Made because it has 2000 IU of VITAMIN D3  It is an active form of VITAMIN D which delivers the same biologically active form of Vitamin D produced by the body as a result of sun exposure, without exposure to UVB rays.
